Example: The charge made by an attorney for his or her work or advice. In some cases, the court will specify the amount of attorney's fees the losing party must pay to the winning party's attorney. A contingent fee is a charge made by an attorney which must be paid only if the party for whom the attorney works actually succeeds in his or her case, often computed as a percentage of the damages which that party wins in the judgment.
